Acne Success StoryFirst, a little bit about who we are, and why we decided to set this site up.  I’m Mark, the site manager, and I started this site with my girlfriend, Min.

Guess what?  We both had HUGE chronic acne problems.

We’re talking total face coverage.  We’re talking enough-to-skip-prom type acne.  We’re talking the 6th plague of Egypt where God sent boils on the Egyptians type acne.

But we’re a regular couple.  I eat relatively healthy.  I’m in shape.  I exercise.  I play basketball.  I play music.  I go to school.  I breathe the same air everyone else breathes.  Then why am I the one with all this acne, while it seems 9 out of ten people I see on the street have fair skin?

Well these are some of the questions I would face throughout my high school and college, and even young adult years.  But hopefully, my story (soon to follow) will show you that it’s NEVER too late to do something about a problem, whether it’s acne, being overweight, studying, whatever.  And if you follow these steps, you too can be acne free for the rest of your life!!

My Story of Acne Horror

Like many of you, I was just another normal human being walking around the earth with a face full acne.  I had no idea why I had it.  Sure I had some idea of the “technical reasons.”  My dermatologist would tell me the boring explanations every time I went to go visit him.

Acne PillsHe’d prescribe me some heavy duty stuff–medicines he promised would get rid of the acne.  I’d try them, sometimes they wouldn’t work, sometimes they’d work a little until I stopped taking the medicines, and sometimes they’d even make my acne worse!

I would often think back to when I didn’t have acne (I started breaking out seriously when I was 17 years old).  Can you remember the age when you realized your acne became a problem?  Think back–it wasn’t too long ago.  How did you go from that…to this?

Well for a while, I gave up hope.  I just kept on funnelling money into various products, going to school, being ashamed, and spending more money.  It was a cycle of terror.  I kind of gave up hope at a certain point.  I didn’t know what to do–didn’t care anymore, just became USED to the acne, USED to being ashamed of it, that even though it bothered me, I sort of just left it to be.

The fact that you’re on this site means that you’re already one step ahead of me in that sense.  For whatever reason, you DID land on this site–that means you’re at least taking some initiative to solving your problem.  Honestly, I couldn’t even bring myself to look in the mirror anymore at my lowest point.

Acne FacewashThat is until my girlfriend Min (the cofounder of this site), who also suffered from an acne problem, started clearing up.  Her acne was never quite as bad as mine, but it wasn’t anything to sneeze at.  At first, it was barely noticeable, but definitely noticeable.

One day, she just came in to school looking a lot clearer, her face was just… this may sound corny…but prettier.  Then, in a couple days, the change was definite, you can’t argue with results.  She hadn’t told me that she had started any new products or any new treatment.  She never went to a dermatologist either.

When I asked her, she just told me she started making a couple lifestyle changes, and trying some tried and true products.  And in less than 30 days, her face went from pizza-status to Megan Fox.

Now what would anyone do in this situation?  Well I told her to tell me exactly what she did and that I would take notes.  And that I would try this for myself to see what happens.  Well, what so happened was that it helped me too!  Nothing like a couple lifestyle changes to do the trick.  Of course, I didn’t take her exact regiment and apply it to my own life.  I made a couple modifications here and there, as I saw fit.  You should do the same.

Read on to see the exact method that I used to get rid of my acne!

Why People Get Acne – The Brief Science!

But first… a BRIEF (I promise it’s going to be brief… I really can’t stand much for scientific explanations for acne, but some of it is important to know) explanation on why people get acne.  I’ll go down the list very briefly.  Some, all, or even NONE of these factors may apply to you.  But the basic concept of acne development is the same.

get rid of acne today!

Want clear skin? Prepare to work for it.

The Basic Science Behind an Acne Breakout

An individual pimple is when your pore gets clogged–for whatever reason!  When the pore gets clogged by something such as skin flakes, oil from your skin’s oil glands, oil from oily products, oil from your fingers, dirt, bacteria, and anything else, the area gets “infected” and the body reacts to the blocked pore.

Now within this blocked pore, anything can happen.  Usually, bacteria will start to develop there.  Bacteria is EVERYWHERE, including on our skin and faces.  But when the bacteria gets nice and cozy within a blocked pore?

Well your body reacts to the bacteria by sending out white blood cells (the body’s immune system soldiers) to fight the infection.  What happens is a normal reaction to any sort of infection. The white blood cells attack, creating the pimple.

The pus created from the white blood cells (think of a scab! that’s also an example of white blood cells, and the creation of pus) creates the bump we see as a pimple.  So really, the pimple is just a cause of our own body trying to defend itself!

So what do you need to know about all this?  Instead of letting our body defend itself, causing pimples, let’s not give it the chance at all.

How to Get Rid of Acne – the FOOLPROOF SIX STEPS

Alright–let’s get to the meaty part.  Remember that regimen that Min and I used to clear ourselves of acne?  Well we itemized it into SIX easy steps to remember.  Just follow these steps and if you can, take notes.

Also–at the end, we’ll give you links to some great products (such as Exposed Skincare which we STILL use,) which make this whole process so much easier and faster.

1. GENERALLY LIVING “THE GOOD LIFE”
Stop smoking.  Stop drinking.  Stop going to bed at 3AM in the morning.  Eat well.  Drink copious amounts of water.  Take up yoga.  Everyone’s definition of “the Good Life” is different.  Stop wasting time and start getting on track.

By attempting to live this “Good Life” you will have the right mentality to take care of the remaining 9 steps.

2. TAKE CARE WITH HOW YOU WASH YOUR FACE

Exposed Skincare ReviewThe Go-To Cleanser
Pretty basic–most of us wash our face at LEAST once, but more commonly, twice a day with soapStop using bar soap, as it contains ingredients that will dry your face out.

Don’t scrub your face like you’re trying to get a stain out of the kitchen floor either.  Simply buy a nice gentle facewash (Exposed Skincare works very well) and act as if you are rubbing it into your skin, like lotion.

Products like Exposed Skincare are specially formulated to work for both adults and teenagers alike and have a great track record of getting rid of acne. They also have a full 1 year money-back guarantee so you can be sure you have no risk as it is guaranteed to give you clearer skin in just 30 days.

3. WATCH WHAT YOU EAT
Remember–oils are naturally on your face, there’s nothing you can do about that.  But you can take measures to reduce the oil on your face.  Ever eat something greasy and feel as if you’re leaking from the pores?  Well–you are.  Stop with the grease.  Fruits and vegetables are MEDICALLY PROVEN to help cure acne.

4. NEVER TOUCH YOUR FACE
Well, as much as you can help it.  There are going to be times where you have to… but don’t touch your face if you don’t have to.  Don’t rub your chin, wipe your brow, or if you do have to–use a sterilized napkin or similar utensil.

Of course, touching also includes popping your pimples, which is a disgusting habit anyhow.

5. WASH YOUR HANDS
Germs are a part of life.  But the face and the skin on your face is extremely sensitive, and can react worse than the rest of your body to an attack of germs.  So wash your hands, and wash them well.

6. KEEP YOUR FACE MOISTURIZED–CHOOSE THE RIGHT PRODUCTS
Nothing will give you clear skin overnight.  Only a steady regimen of the previous steps along with the right mix of products will truly help your skin be free from acne, and stay that way.  What’s the pont of some overnight cure, when your skin isn’t healthy–and the acne will come back the instant you stop using the product?

Let’s run through our recommended products.

1) Exposed SkincareBest Choice

Exposed SkincareThis is the product we personally still use, even after our acne has disappeared. This keeps our skin fresh, moisturized, and looking as healthy as ever.

This is our number one rated treatment and is suitable for both teenagers and adults alike, guaranteeing to give you clearer skin in just 30 days. Click here for our full Exposed Skincare review.

2) ClearPores SystemAlternative Option

ClearPoresAlmost as effective as the Exposed Skincare kit, what we like about ClearPores is that there are two systems, one for facial acne and the other for body acne.

There is also a kit that combines both products for all-round treatment.

The main downside is the price as it is an expensive product, however it does work and is guaranteed for 90 days. Click here for our full ClearPores System review.

3) Revitol Acnezine3rd Choice

AcnezineOur final recommendation is Revitol Acnezine which is a good solid product that is your next best choice if neither Exposed Skincare or the ClearPores system suits you.

It is the cheapest of the three products although it is not quite as advanced and only consists of pills and a cream.

However, it is effective even if the results seem to take a little longer. Click here for our full Revitol Acnezine review.

Hey I have some advice on what to use on your skin.and it keeps your skin ultra soft and clean.get aveeno’s natural baby soap, yes iknow you guys are probably thinking its not gonna work but I had acne very horrible and when I started aveeno its cleared up after a few days.hope this works!

      • Amb December 5, 2011 at 2:18 pm #

Dear Mahanoor, try using baking soda. Its inexpensive and you ‘ll see a much clearer skin within days:). Make a paste of the baking soda with a little water and spread it on ur acne area, let dry for 10 to 20 minutes. Depending how long you could handle it. Your skin might feel chilly during the process but its ok. Then wash it off with warm water. Use it regularly for at least 5 days. See if its working for ur skin. Usually i see results within days. It might make ur skin a bit dry if u use it for many days. U can use a drop of lotion for that. Hope it helps!:)
let me know if it works. cheers!

        • KMS January 26, 2012 at 5:23 pm #

DO NOT POP THEM, that’s a reason why they bleed and turn into black heads.Popping your pimples is a bad habit just leave them be and if you don’t touch your face so much you wouldn’t even know they are there. So leave them be. Your face will be clear in no time!

      • michaela December 13, 2011 at 1:13 am #

What you can do is get bakings soda and warm water and mix it( mosty baking soda), and then leave it on for about 2 mintues, i might burn a little but that means its cleaning out the bacteria. After wash it off with warm water and remember, dab with cold water! otherwise your pores will remain open which will lead to more dirt and bacteria getting in your pores, which will make everythings worse! hen after dabbing with cold water, rub viatamin E on your face, you can get it at a local health store. If you can find any viatamin E then just use olive oil, it works just as well. Make sure to take your viatamins every day, eat healthy, and get sleep! THe remedy I just taught you will not only help with acne and pimples, but will get rid of your oily skin, trust me. Always moisturize. And to get rid of the scars get neosporin and dab it on the scarred areas, in almost all cases, you should see a differenc overnight, and in a week, maybe even less I promise youll have much better skin!

        • julia March 21, 2012 at 8:33 pm #

hi michaela how much baking soda and water and olive oil are you supposed to use? plz tell me! thanks!

        • Emily April 10, 2012 at 1:36 pm #

I have used so many acne products like proactive, terminator ten, clinique, tea tree, and like hundreds of face soaps! But this gave me a better result in one night!!! Try it works!!!( baking soda and olive oil thing). Trust me I’ve been fighting it for years… I’m the same Emily that posted a couple of months ago… And I’m only in the 7th grade :(

        • Olivia April 10, 2012 at 3:32 pm #

Would vegetable oil work? And how much oil?

        • Olivia April 11, 2012 at 12:34 am #

It is suppose to kind of itch after your done? Please reply ASAP!!

      • Molly February 27, 2012 at 9:42 pm #

My mom makes homemade soap. Its go tthe same ingredence that the acne products do. I have ance. But i never remember to wash my face.

      • Nikki Renee gaodet March 21, 2012 at 4:05 am #

I used this once and I saw results asap!
Mash up strabarrys or blubarrys in a bowl
then add milk and mix. Next add lemon juice or baking soada and mix add to effected area and let sit for 10 min to 60 min
and rinse off with warm water
another remide is plain tooth paste just dab some on let sit for 10 min and rinse off this is easy and effertive!

Also I use a little bit of neosporin to help them heal and prevent scarring AND make sure you use OIL FREE moiustrizer if any

use cetaphil it work great, good for washing out bacteria and cleaning your face.

  3. Tammy5 October 26, 2011 at 3:57 pm #

I tried all of the anti-acne body washes and never made it through a whole bottle. They either smelled horrible or made my skin feel dry. I found Made from Earth’s Vitamin E Citris Body Gel is perfect and I hope they never stop making it.

It smells lovely (I get compliments all the time and I never wear perfume!) but the scent is light and not too feminine (my boyfriend also uses this). It leaves my skin feeling SO soft and clean! I rarely get breakouts on my body, though they come back if I run out and use something else. My only real complaint is that I have to buy it online because it is not available in stores near me.

Also, a bottle lasts a long time (about 6-8 months when used daily) because a little goes a long way. Love it!

    • Kaden November 29, 2011 at 8:30 pm #

Where can I get that Body Gel online! It sounds great the way you explain it! :)

    PLEASE help me!!!!

    • Hannah November 6, 2011 at 5:57 pm #

Make sure you aren’t touching your face because when you do everyone’s hands are dirty maybe try baking soda and water that seems to help a lot of people

    • Desirae February 19, 2012 at 6:54 pm #

Hey Cathrine your not alone i once had a acne problem but i used theese face pads my step mom gave me and i also use clearasel or who ever you spell it and it worked great.
the face pads you run them under hot water til they get soapy and use the rouff side first then the soft, rinse you face and then use the clearasel or who ever you spell it. I think this might work for you!
      bye!

  8. Deb Vandi November 7, 2011 at 7:15 am #

My 16-year-old daughter used the Grapefruit Glycolic Scrub from Made from Earth skincare for the acne on her back and shoulders. She has noticeable results by the second day – existing blemishes healed, no new break-out.

She’s excited. No harsh benzoyl peroxide (active ingredient is glycolic acid and grapefruit). It is in Made from Earth’s face Treatment section, but uses it for her body – has the little exfoliating “beads” in it – so it makes skin feel smooth immediately. And the fragrance is very light, clean (gender-neutral).

Also, it’s very concentrated, so it goes a long way – making it easily worth the money as far as any body wash goes.

Of course, everyone is different when it comes to acne treatments – but it worked here.

I used to have a clean skin :(
Since the last year I started getting some more pimples as the times before:\
I don’t get it, I drink water, alot of water.
I wash my face twice a day, after I wash it I use Tea Trea Oil, & 10mins later I put a cream on it.
    I eat alot of fruit, I don’t smoke & I don’t drink at all.
I don’t got acne, my cheecks and nose are just fully clean, but my chin is bad :\ Help me out :s

    • Kristy November 20, 2011 at 11:29 pm #

I have this same issue. I’ve always had clear skin, never had a problem with acne growing up until I turned 20. I break out on my chin randomly but it’s getting worse and I’m beginning to scar and I’m worried. I keep my face extremely clean and wash it twice a day, as well as drinking water. I can not find a solution. Let me know if you found anything that can be of help!!

    • michaela December 13, 2011 at 1:24 am #

sorry to break it to you but, it maybe cant be fixed:( i might just be genes, or it might even just be pubrity. dont worry, people think thats just an old wise tail but its true, pubrity is awful but to grow up you need it. But i thinkg i might have something that might work. Take white rice and soak it in a bowl over night, in the morning take a wash cloth with warm water, strain the rice, and put the rice on the wash cloth. Then leave the wash cloth on your face for about 15 minutes. When done rinse with cold water, NOT warm. You dont want to leave your pores open. Try not wearing as much cover up. What I do is I have Garnier nutritioniste Skin Renew Anti Dark Circle Roller, its natural, light, and works great. I dont just use it under my eyes for foundation. Dont use powder on your face, you want to cover up the pores, not clog them. I hope my advice helped(:

    • Hannah January 14, 2012 at 7:16 am #

instead of using just tea tree oil, try face wash with tea tree oil from Trader Joes, I just started 3 days ago and experienced major results.

I have horrible back acne and I’ve tried a lot of diffrent products like proactive body wash, clean and clear, and Clearacel, but nothing helps and sometimes it just makes it worse. I wash once to twice a day but it never gets better.if anyone has and products to try, can u please let me know

    • Julie November 10, 2011 at 6:41 am #

Try PanOxyl 10%. It does dry your skin out, but Cetaphil (oil-free) daily facial moisturizer really helps. However, apply that lotion at night, and trying using Neutrogena SPF 45 HELIOPLEX sunscreen in the morning. I have really bad acne because my skin is very oily, so I don’t use those as much. However, my dermetologist recommended using them if my skin gets really dried out. Hope this helped.

    • K March 23, 2012 at 5:44 pm #

Best part about acne is it can be treated. Your going to be dog ugly forever lol. And just know there are surgical options for that weight issue of yours. Not sure what they can do about your obviously unbelievably low self esteem though who knows, after you fix the obesity maybe you wont have to go onto blogs and make fun of people for some semblance of self assurence.

    • Catherine March 30, 2012 at 6:00 am #

Don’t worry if u don’t have acne that just means the rest of us r more mature than u so it’s ok because I’m not worried about my acne or anyone else’s because it will go away and u will be the one who is asking for advise. So word to the wise it’s coming don’t worry karma is right under ur skin!! (I’m only 13)!!!

Anyone else get the problem of having no acne at all except in the middle between your eyebrows? It is keeps reappearing and does not seem to stop. Any advice?

    • Mo November 16, 2011 at 4:52 am #

This is most likely (most definitely) where your facial sweat and oil tend to collect. For me, it’s my T line (lining of face-to-hair). First, don’t touch! And like they said if you every do, wipe it with a face wipe. This should keep it from collecting during the day and then cleaning it a little with the wipe. That’s what I do and it has REDUCED (not vanished) my pimples. Hope this helps… it worked for me.. :-/

    • Anonymous November 16, 2011 at 11:04 pm #

yeah! last year that was the only spot I got acne! but now I would trade that any day, because I’m perfectly clear there, but bad everywhere else. I think acne is just a thing of adolescence.

make sure no unibrow hairs are in that area, gently pluck any out with tweezers.
      get sunlight on your face
eat healthy, literally not one bad snack
      dont pop

    • Darcy December 5, 2011 at 2:17 pm #

I had that same exact problem! You just get a baby wipe and just gently rub it in circlular motions

I am 12 and i have acne and there is no way I am buying products for this but I will try the tips. is it unusual to start getting acne at 11 anyway?

    • al.. December 29, 2011 at 3:04 am #

No. its not. I got acne at 13. so i dont know GO AWAY.

    • Ayana January 3, 2012 at 10:31 am #

its not unusual. i got my acne the same age u did. :( it sucks, i know. but maybe this’ll help u. i’m 13 and i totally understand what ur going through…i think the best way to prevent pimples is to soak a cloth with hot water then dab it on the acne-covered parts of ur face.. it used to help me. its the most simplest procedure for getting rid of pimples for ur age. and it doesn’t cause a bad reaction. although, u might want to repeat this procedure everyday. it takes time to work, but it shows up wd some good results too. since hot water helps eliminates toxins & bacteria, it helps with the prevention of pimples too. i hope this helps.

I put lemon on my face and it keeps it really clean and it reduces pimples. dont worry if you re bothered by pimples now just dont notice the ugly things like dumb pimples but notice the beautiful things. maybe your eyes your smile your hair. I’m 12 too and I am not one of those people who get alot of pimples because I wash my face 3 times a day and I was my hair every other day. remember what I told you, look at the beautiful things in you. I notice my big blue eyes, long blonde hair, and my smile always smile because you never know who will fall in love with it.

      hope I helped!

i have sensitive skin, and if you pop your pimples it will just make it warst. I am 14, it causes oiliness and makes its red. What I use and that works great is face wash with tea tree oil from trader joes. eat fruits vegetable, lots of water. No stress.

  20. Katelyn November 21, 2011 at 4:17 am #

Hey. I’m Katelyn, and I’m twelve years old. I’ll be thirteen in May. I’m in seventh grade. Two years ago, I had perfectly clear skin. Actually, if I would’ve had contacts back then, I could’ve easily been considered pretty. But, I have glasses, and now, of course, I have acne too. Most of my face is pretty clear. I’ve only got like, three on my cheeks (around the area of the nose and eye) and one on my nose. But, my forehead is terrible!!! Well, actually, I’m exaggerating. My forehead DOES have a decent amount, but it’s not absolutely horrible. I suppose it’s survivable. I’m not exactly popular, but I do have a decent bunch of friends, and no one really hates me or makes fun of me. (well, ‘the populars’ don’t really talk to me, but i don’t believe they count (well they’re not even the same species ;))) Anyway, I just really wanted to know if someone knew a REALLY good way of helping me out and getting rid of my acne. But, I don’t want to have to buy any fancy-smancy products. I mean, doesn’t anyone have an idea that is just like a ‘go smear mud on your face’ type thing. (not that, exactly! :D) it’d even be nice if the technique only REDUCES acne. Just, I want clear skin. I feel like if I get clear skin, I’ll actually be very pretty/different. I’m also going to get contacts soon. I know looks aren’t everything, but of course they this really awesome guy I like too and why would he like me if I’ve got stupid acne!!! I mean, it’s not like he’s some sort of hot football player, but he’s just awesome to me so yeah please help!!!!!

    • JJ November 27, 2011 at 6:55 am #

Hi katelyn im 13 now and in 7 th grade to i had acne in 6th grade and got rid of it by working out ,i would go for a run every mourning and night about 8miles a day, i drank lots of water,i learned not to touch my face and wash my hands like every 10minutes,and i washed my face everynight with nutreguena(im not sure wat they were called but two little orange tubes) and finally it went away:) just rememberhold ur head up high have fun and STOP looking in the mirror worrying about ur acne

    • Ashley December 5, 2011 at 3:55 am #

      Hey Katelyn,

You’re very well spoken for a twelve-year-old. :) Your acne problem sounds similar to mine…ish. My forehead’s clearer than my cheeks and chin. It sucks because I know a lot of it is from the stress of my uni projects (that are done, thankfully!) and exams coming up (my face was actually clearing up until a couple weeks ago). So! Remember that stress can be a major contributor to acne, and things such as poor sleep can contribute to that.

I would recommend drinking chamomile tea–not the tea bags (most brands I’ve looked at here actually add things to their ‘chamomile tea’, so it’s not really chamomile tea but a spice tea with chamomile in it), but infusions of the actual dried herb. It can help a host of different problems–indigestion due to nerves, insomnia due to stress, mood swings, irritability–and it can also be used as a wash for things like cuts, sunburn, eczema, and acne. Steep one teaspoon in about a cup of water for drinking, two teaspoons in a cup of water for external use. I find that it doesn’t necessarily get rid of the acne, but it certainly helps it (most likely because it helps me de-stress; I can definitely attest to it helping mood swings, though), and I’ve heard that it will actually clear some people’s acne right up. If you’re lucky enough to have an apothecary near you, nettle, burdock root, and milk thistle are also reported to often relieve acne (I actually have other teas I’ve started drinking recently, both being blends of multiple herbs and roots that the workers at mine recommended…one tastes like stomach acid. Blech. But it is working). Um, I’m not a physician or anything, but this information is gleaned from the many books and other sources I’ve read on herbs. I strongly suggest that you do your own research on the subject before trying anything, and if you’re able to talk with a qualified herbal practitioner, so much the better.

Oh, and about your comment RE: mud–there is actually mud that you can smear on your face to help with acne! One of my friends swears by the mud facials she does…I keep meaning to ask her to get me some, actually, since I don’t like ordering things like that online. Unfortunately I can’t remember what the mud’s called, but I know quite a few online herb stores carry it, and it’s supposed to be very beneficial for a variety of things as well (once again, I’m not qualified, blah blah blah, do your own research before trying anything ;) ). It might be sold in a health store near you? Idk, really.

Oh, and refined sugars often make me break out, so if that happens to you you could maybe try replacing them with things like raw honey, pure maple syrup, and demerara? I notice that I don’t get breaks outs from those like I do from white sugar. (Er, demerara’s raw cane sugar, turbinado is slightly more refined [smaller crystals], and muscovado’s brown sugar where the molasses has been left in the sugar instead of being added back into white sugar, in case you were wondering.) I mean, you still don’t want to have a free-for-all eating any of those, but yeah.

      Hope this helps!

      Ashley

raise 5 dollars up go get face wash with tea tree oil from trader joes. works wonders. eat fruits vegetable. lay off fried foods. drink half you body weight of water, it cleanses you out. wash your hands constantly. wash your face 1-2 times a day with cleanser. Wash your hair everyother day, your hair is oily. your hair touches your face. you start breaking out close to your roots of your hair, not good. Don’t be stressed wait 2-3 weeks. Cleared up. 23. Derrick November 25, 2011 at 5:17 am #

Sup guys. I was 13 when this crappy thing started. I know most of you couldn’t care less about me, but when I was in elementary school, I guess you could’ve called me pretty handsome. I was just one of those people who just looked good. I was the second smartest kid in the school, next to a kid who made it to the top 10 in national geography bee. In 7th grade, I saw the same thing. I was popular, and there was this real cute girl that I kind of liked. Anyway, everything was going happy-diddly when I noticed I had a LOT of acne. I don’t remember actually seeing the little bits of acne of my face, but I noticed it and wasn’t pretty. Acne runs in the family on my dad’s side, so my brother used to have it, too. When I started actually getting really serious about it, I used the same acne treatment as he did. Back on the road to a happy, acne-free life. Not so. A few months later, I noticed that my skin started to peel. So I stopped using it. I try to forget about it, but every once in a while, one of my friends just has to make that one “you have a lot of acne” comment to make me all sad. I have also noticed that some people who used to be my friends just stop talking to me. The only reason that I am not hating life right now are those people that brighten up my day by seeing me for who I truly am. Those may be my only true friends for now until this acne is gone. I guess it’s incredibly safe to say that I have the most acne of anyone I have ever seen. This is a horrible experience, but will teach me a thing or two as well. Sorry for putting in my life’s story, but for some reason it makes me feel better. I really need some ideas to get rid of all these pimples. I will be really really glad if someone tells me how. Again, sorry and thank you in advanced for taking the time to answer. Btw I’m saving my cha-chings for a cellphone, and am not interested in those fancy gadgets or creams or whatever. :P

    • Amanda December 18, 2011 at 5:38 pm #

Your life story is almost like mine (hope that doesn’t sound creepy or anything) I mean, middle school everyone loved me and stuff until my acne started. I felt so bad when half of my “fake” friends stopped talking to me. It felt like they thought that the acne was my fault. I used everything that my older sister used because it helped her with her acne but I noticed that it dried my face out and stuff like that. I know that this didn’t help you at all but I just wanted you to that you aren’t the only one who felt that way.

    • adam December 26, 2011 at 6:16 am #

thank God…i always feel this way and i never new if anybody understood it..its so odd.one day ur skin will look pretty good and the nxt itl be like volcano city.on the dys that my skin is good i have a whole lot more confidence and everyone jst seems to like me..but then i have my bad days and i feel like crap and like i wanna hide in a freakin cave.i hope this helps those that no my pain cuz there are people like you out here

    • Derrick January 9, 2012 at 5:38 am #

Sup guys it’s me again. Well, now I really need help. In the past month, life has gotten pretty crappy. I did do hours of research, but nothing seems to be working. I’ve got severe acne, and some of it has been cleared up using the Benzoyl Peroxide 3-step thing, but I am still looking pretty crappy. I’ve changed my pillowcases every 3 days instead of every two weeks. I’ve cut my shower time in half, and used acceptionally cold water. But then, Happy Birthday. I ran out of step 3 two days ago. Then, I started using Terminator 10, which I promised myself it would only be a last resort, because I have less than a week supply of it left. I try to have a good attitude, but it’s pretty much impossible. This is random, but my acne seems to be migrating across my face.
Btw, does anyone know if that natural fruit juice that has immense amounts of fruit, but high in natural sugar helps getting rid of acne?
As I was reading these comments, the longest anyone had acne was 3 years or so. Here’s a happy thought: some people have it for like 10 years or more.
All right I need some help, so just shut up and reply.

      • Derrick January 16, 2012 at 9:37 pm #

        I FINALLY FOUND IT!!!
All right, so if you read my story, you know my life pretty much sucked. But, in the past 3 days, I saw more results than I ever have in a year!!! And I did it by following 7 rules!!! How? Well, first off, I threw out my Terminator 10 acne cream. Seriously. Don’t use it. And if you’re using it now, stop using it! My skin had some massive peeling because of that stupid product. I completely ditched Benzoyl Peroxide for good. I decided to change my life when I searched how to get rid of zits on youtube. I clicked on this one video, which instructed me to go to this one link. It was about this guy telling me how to get rid of acne. I was completely convinced to get the e-book – until I saw the price. Seriously? 37 bucks for an e-book. But I did get some valuable information. This leads me to steps 1 through 4.
        1. Throw out your Benzoyl Peroxide products.
        2. Stop drinking milk – or, better yet, all dairy products. I didn’t really research it, but I don’t care. It worked. Really.
        3. Stop drinking soda. Actually minimize your sugar to as low as possible.
        4. Change your diet. Eat fish, and if you are going to have anything fried, make sure it’s fried with olive oil.
All right, so now what? You need to be clean on the outside, too. I’m just going to straight up say step 5.
        5. Change your pillow case super often. Sleep on one side one night, and then the other side the next night. Then start all over again with a new pillow case.
And then, you need to use the right products, right?
        6. Use the right products. Clinique (or however you spell it) is key. I use the mild facial soap in the shower. It specifically says it”s for dry skin, but what the heck? After I use it, my skin is dry! (Those hippocrates). But seriously. It’s a great product. And, if you EVER have any problems with your skin peeling, use Clinique’s moisturizer. But not all of them work. I used the green one for a while, but it really didn’t do much. I’m too lazy to go look for the product that I use, which is all the way upstairs. But, I will tell you, it’s pink. And it’s for “extended periods of time”. Use it. Sorry for not being very specific.
        7. Don’t touch your face. Wash it gently. Take care of it.

        • Derrick January 16, 2012 at 9:38 pm #

Btw I didn’t REALLY get the e-book. It just said no dairy products in the video.

I have been suffering with my pimples for 3 years,,,,i used the procedure of using a warm water already,,,but it became even worser because the pimples leaves black spots,,,,but right now i am using carrots and oatmeal ,,,,then i must see if it really works,,,,because i cant buy those products that you have mentioned,,,,because it seems so expensive

      • carly weiss February 28, 2012 at 12:50 pm #

Hey so something I use that helps is I wash my face with the clarisonic mia. You can buy that at Sephora it is expensive but, I heard Olay has one just like it for half the price. It is the automatic brush that spins and you put this cream on your face and then us the brush on your face and it gets deep in your pores and cleans and acne starts to go away! Also there is the Zeno hot spot where you can put it on a pimple an pops off! Fastest way to get rid of acne and very easy!

    i had this problem since i was 13 yrs..i m now 17 yrs……!!!i hope this works!!!

  31. Jamie November 30, 2011 at 2:29 pm #

I have had acne for about 2 years now, and it has got progressively worse, and in the past 2 months it has got out of control. I have tried every product thinkable (in the U.K) and I have seen my doctor twice. The doctor prescribed my Oxytetracycline, (I think that’s how you spell it) and yes, I saw a result after about a month, but then my body got used to the tablets and stopped working. The doctor then prescribed Tetracycline, (I think this is what it is) and they aren’t working. The doctor each time told me to take the tablets for 3 months, and I’m finding it really hard because they just won’t go away. I’ve nearly finished the 3 months for these tablets and they are probably 2x worse as they were before I started taking these tablets. I wash my face twice a day with soapy water (a bar of soap with no colourings etc, just plain soap) and this doesn’t help at all. I drink quite a lot of water and eat quite a lot of vegetables and drink fruit juice every morning. I have recently read some reviews about Sudocrem, and mostly they were positive reviews and said that the acne dried up and disappeared so I tried this for about 2 weeks and it worked for the first day of use only. I have got to the point where I can’t look in the mirror because it makes me so upset. I just need a few tips how to reduce them because I have followed the ones on this website and they don’t seem to be working. I always get the feeling that people are looking at them when we are talking, and it really upsets me. Please help! :-(

    • adam December 26, 2011 at 6:21 am #

i hate that feeling man but ur not the only only one.have u tried proactive.it may not clear up the big cystic acne but it does help with a lot of the little bumps and zits. i’ve also found that mixing a tablespoon of honey and cinnamon works pretty well on the big honkers.raw honey alone left on over night works really well and can be found at like an organic foods store..well i hope this works..good luck

I have used millions of varieties of facial cleaners and wash my face all the time. I still though have breakouts between my eyebrows and chin. Sometimes on my nose. Any advice??????

    • Chloe April 1, 2012 at 7:10 am #

It’s from the sweat since your cheerleader and all. After practice get a small towel, soak it in hot water then dab on the problem areas. After, wipe with cold water so your pores wont stay open.
      hope this helped!

Excercise!

HUGE TIP THAT WORKED FOR ME:
    Stop. Drinking. Coke.
Any coke.. No sprite, no Dr. Pepper, no ANYTHING BUT WATER.
I used to be addicted to coke. And I had terrible acne, for all of 8th grade. I was drinking about 3-4 cokes a day, i wasn’t fat at all so i didn’t think it was hurting anything. But my face, gahhh. So then at band camp one of my friends- gorgeous girl, shes an abercrombie model and captain of guard, told me she didn’t drink coke. Thats the day i quit and i havent had coke since august taht day, so 4 months! my skin is significantly better. I only drink water, sometimes lemonade if im at a restraunt, SO THERE YA GO!
    NO MORE SODA.

    • Hannah January 14, 2012 at 7:42 am #

I am addicted to coke. I love coke so much….. I used to drink 3-4 cokes a day, but without any water. like coke was my main drink. Awful i know, but I went on this diet. I am actually still on the diet. It has been 6 days, of 54 ounces, which is half of my body weight. Occasionaly I have tea or milk, but thats all I CAN HAVE. no fried foods, no sweets either,,,

      • Inna February 8, 2012 at 3:52 am #

Milk is a bad idea, everywhere i read on how to get rid of acne they said not to drink milk. because it is a number one aside from sugar to cause acne.

  39. Anon December 11, 2011 at 3:53 am #

This is very true! I’m a junior in high school and i have acne problems but not as bad. I went on a 2 week vacation to Brazil and i was ‘living the good life’. Slept for like 12 hours everyday, ate food that i liked, washed my face (which is always a must), and not caring if my friends were there to stare at my face or not. After the vacation i realized my acne was A LOT better. But now that school started, it’s starting to come back again. ):

Im also 12 and in 7th grade. My acne started when i was 10 or 11. My acne was really bad during volleyball season because I was sweating so much and I hope its not this bad during track too! My boyfriend comes to my games and meets and its embarrassing to have him see me like this. I am definitely an athelte and I hate my face being sweaty and oily all the time. I get it around my mouth which is so unkissable (; sadly I can relate to most of you in bad experiences, and call me stupid but I think that none of the middle school princess athletes will vote my captain next year if I still have a face looking like this :( I use OXY FACE WASH now and it seems to finally be working but now and then I still have breakouts. Also have a BAD HABIT of popping which doesnt exactly do wonders for my face :/ I will certainly take this advice from all of you and see how it changes me (: THANKS!

i have just started having problems with acne since i’m only 11 i dont try the heavly acne removers or creams because i am afraid it will cause a bad reaction to my skin i wash my face, put on all the types of creams that my mother tells me to put on but now i have an alergic probelm with my nose i want to know if you have any thing or cream for my age and i have very oily skin but its hard not to pop my pimples and remove the oilness from my skin but i thought that your website would help and so far it did but as i asked do you have any advice for me and how to get rid of my acne and keep it away?

    • Ayana January 3, 2012 at 10:25 am #

hi, arnesa…i’m 13 and i totally understand what ur going through…i think the best way to prevent pimples is to soak a cloth with hot water then dab it on the acne-covered parts of ur face.. it used to help me. its the most simplest procedure for getting rid of pimples for ur age. and it doesn’t cause a bad reaction. although, u might want to repeat this procedure everyday. it takes time to work, but it shows up wd some good results too. :) since hot water helps eliminates toxins & bacteria, it helps with the prevention of pimples too. i hope this helps. :)

My pimples aren’t exactly the giant red type. it just looks more like a rash. but its not a rash and its disgusting. it covers my cheeks and i dont know what im supposed to do. its pretty embarassing because almost everybody notices my pimples and they’re all like “Oh my. you have lots of pimples on your face”.. and its just really embarassing. Like, Seriously. :( and idk what to do. ive tried lots of facial soaps already but none of them were able to get rid of my pimples. i hate puberty. :( i think 2 years ago i would’ve been known to be most prettiest in class. not that im boasting or anything. im not actually goodlooking but im one of those people with clear complexions. well. evrything crashed down on me when i was in 5th grade . i started getting a couple of pimples but then it got even worse as time goes by. I just really need help right now. ! Please. !!!!

    • Derrick January 9, 2012 at 6:12 am #

Well sucks for you good bye.

Just kidding, I guess we kinda have the same story. Well, I’m 14 and I have made some pretty crappy mistakes in trying to get rid of my zits. (Trial and error is really informative). Here are a couple tips:
      1. Don’t wash your face more than twice a day. I used to wash my face 5 times a day, and what that does is create a dead skin pile-up that is not pretty.
      2. Don’t rub your towel against your face. Pat it instead. Rubbing it irritates the skin, and I looked horrible until I came to my freaking senses that never helps me when I need it.
      3. Don’t take long showers. It increases swelling, I think. Also, no saunas or tanning salons for a while.
      4. Eat your peas. And all other healthy garbage.Trust me. It helps.
      5. Just shut up and drink your water.
      6. Don’t believe the websites that say natural healing is faster than those fancy shmancy products. Those nerdy dermatologists really know what they’re doing. Well, most of them.
      7. Make good friends. Bad friends can lower your self-esteem. Some of my “friends made fun of me the other day, and the only thing that calmed me down enough to go to sleep was writing poetry. And I don’t even like writing poetry!
      8. Just shut up and be happy. To me, that is the most inspirational quote I have ever heard. I even have it put up in a frame in my room. No joke. Dead serious. No lie.
      9. Never go to google images and search severe acne. Trust me.
      10. Remember: You aren’t the only good-looking person that ever gets acne. *cough*me*cough*.

If you, or any of y’all children, have and questions, e-mail me at sunkist00817@hotmail.com. Seriously. Spam me all you want. It doesn’t contain my real personal info, and it isn’t my main e-mail. HAHA SUCKS FOR YOU, ALL YOU COMPUTER GEEKS!

I’m 17 and a high school senior, I play sports and drink more soda than I do water, but I recently found out how to get rid of my acne. I wash my face 4 times a day, and I use baking soda mixed with water as a mask 4 times a week. I also apply honey mixed with water (via cotton ball) 2 times a week on all my scarring and it helps clear it up a lot. My face has never looked better! I hope this helps!

Hey guys, a lot of you have acne out there and I’m here to help. I’m 14 and had a LOT of acne on my left cheek. Well, after my cheek came my chin. Ugh, I had huge bumps! Eew I know, not pretty. Anyways, after years of searching on Google (I do mean years) I finally found them. I mean the tips! So I collected each one and put it together!

    1) We all know that we ge acne from our pillows so change your pillowcase every 3 days.

    2) DRINK A GALLON OF WATER. I’m serious
    3) Make Lemon-water. Squeeze fresh lemon juice in a cup of warm water and stir. Drink through straw so your enamel doesnt wear off. Do this EVERYDAY and see the results.

    4) Avoid all dairy foods.
    5) Try to be stress-less. It will only make you feel worse AND look worse
    6) Stop drinking soda!
    7) Never sleep a late as 10 pm
    8) Vicks vapor rub works as an Overnight treatment. Rub Vicks on acne at night and leave it on until morning, then wash it off. Don’t believe me? Ask Google.

I hope this helps! And remember,
    Always smile!!!

  75. Taylor Bressi January 30, 2012 at 2:44 am #

Hello. My name is Taylor. I’m 17 years old and I’m a junior in high school. I’ve dealt with acne since 6th grade. I wasn’t the best looking girl around, but I wasn’t the ugliest either. But as I got older, everyone noticed how “beautiful” I was, but I never believed them. I always wore glasses and had my hair pulled back in a ponytail. I never got acne till I was in 7th grade, that’s when everything went down hill. I wish I would’ve known what to use to diminish acne. All I ever used was Clean&Clear and Stridex, but none of those worked, when I would use it everyday. My dad bought Oxy when I was in 8th grade, I applied it on the affected area and used it two time a day, in the am and at night, but never got results. I am still living with acne to this day. I been with my boyfriend for 8 months and I only saw clear skin maybe twice that we’ve been together. He doesn’t mind it, but I certainly do and I don’t find it attractive. He’s been acne free all his life. If I could be acne free, I would love it! I need major help/tips. I have acne on my chin, sometimes cheeks, (blackheads around and on my nose, but you can hardly see them), and the worst spot, is my forehead. PLEASE HELP ME! ;( I need the NUMBER ONE ACNE TREATMENT. I really need your help. I will give my number, to make it easier to talk too or some type of e-mail or facebook. Just please help me.

  78. Christy February 1, 2012 at 9:20 pm #

Hey Taylor, I saw your comment!

I have had acne also that won’t disappear so fast either! I used a lot of different things which would take some pimples away but then, my skin would get use to it and it would come right back. :( My family uses Mary Kay stuff since my mom is a consultant. It works for me, its not the cheapest thing in the world, but its not outrageously expensive either. I think if you would want great clean skin you would try just about anything right? Try Mary Kay. I use the “acne medication”…they have plenty of others you can choose from such as moisture, facial cleansers, blemish control etc. When I start to use them more regularly when I go home from college (I’m 21) my face starts to clear up. I haven’t bought any for myself because while I’m in college its harder to buy Mary Kay from my mother. However, when I thought all was lost… I started using St. Ives “Naturally Clear Apricot Scrub” Blemish and Blackhead control, it worked for me until my boyfriend showed me a new way to get my face clearer. I didn’t believe him at first because I didn’t want him to be right about what was better for my own skin. He doesn’t mind my skin like it is (It’s not the most horrible thing) and he showed me TWO things to use that have been making my face so much more clearer, and I’ve only been using it for about two weeks. It’s cheap, and effective, you can get these at Walmart*

    1. I first use Neutrogena Oil-Free Acne Wash-pink grapefruit foaming scrub. (you don’t need a whole lot, because once you add water it lathers and stretches) This contains salicylic acid which treats acne well, you want acne treatments to contain this stuff.

    2. Second, use Oxy…I know you said it didn’t for you, but maybe if you try both of these together it may help you. It’s OXY clinical, “clearing treatment”. This acne treatment contains 5% Benzoyl Peroxide and eliminates 99% of acne bacteria is just 8 hours. Only use a think layer after washing with the scrub.

*You’ll want to do this more than once a day, to get better results. If you wear makeup try eliminating some it and wear light makeup because your face needs space to work, I haven’t worn make up this week especially foundation and its working well.

I hope this helps you girl! I don’t know what else to say, because you know your own skin type. Mine is normal I would think so this is what I have been using that’s been working so far. :)

  79. Emily February 4, 2012 at 4:07 am #

    Hey guys-
I’m a junior in high school and have had acne since seventh grade. I am so incredibly sick of it, I’m willing to do anything. I’ve tried over the counter stuff as well as prescribed washes and even antibiotics. Had some lousy doctors who called themselves dermatologists who barely even looked at me before giving me meds.
Some of the stuff I’ve tried works – for a week or two, I’m granted the serenity of clear skin. And then it returns, sometimes worse than before. Honestly, I feel like it’s adapting to whatever I throw at it – it sounds crazy, but my life has become a battle with my acne.
And seeing all these proactive commercials makes things worse. It only reminds me of my bad skin – and I’VE TRIED PROACTIVE. It might have made it a little better, but nothing like the ads all promised.
A lot of these tips seem doable. Drinking more water and changing your pillowcase is simple. But as a highschool student with a lot of tough classes AND a job – major lifestyle changes are hard.
You may hate looking in the mirror, but you have to keep up hope. People should love you for who you are, anyway. The really good ones will see past your acne. It’s a part of life.
    Still sucks though :/

Hi guys. Acne is a huge issue in modern society. I am 15 years old and i’ve had acne sence I was 12. Its horrible and its mainly apart of puberty. Wash your face regularly, eat healthy and enjoy your life to the fullest. I reccomend washing your face twice a day and after using moisturizers in the facewash section that you find at local stores. I use clean and clear cream cleanser. I just went to Target one day and picked it up. It really clears your skin and makes it get this weird tingle type feeling. I love it. What I use as a moisturizer is clean and clear dual action moisturizer. They both have a nice smell and the moisturizer is a multi-task-tastic which is always good to me. I used to use Proactiv. It helped for about a year but they made changes that were sposed to improve the product which seemed to make it worse. I didnt see any improvement in my face anymore and it really dried out my skin. I thought it was sposed to be the number one acne product? Not! I hope my advice helps you guys! Just remember to not touch your face, eat healthy, exercise regularly and enjoy yourself. Acne may make you have low self esteem but it doesnt make you less beautiful then you are! Stressing out about acne makes it worse! I know this from experience. Love yourself for who you are. They wont be there forever. Hope I helped!
    Sincerly, Liv

Hi everyone, anyone can help me please!!!!! First only few pimples came, i went to the doctor who recommended faceline A gel. It got only worse and my skin started to burst and swell. Then i went back to the doc and they recommended Benzac AC 2.5. It worked, but new pimples started to appear. Then, i went to another doctor and they did salicilic peel. They gave Salogel, which made my skin red. Still new pimples started to appear in place of old ones. Please give some useful advice. Thanks.

    Please please please!!!! :( :( :’(

Im the same way. Breakouts diminish confidence. From my expeience women dont consider a little ance a deal breaker if the man can retain his confidence. They may respond more to a man who can hold on to his confidence through a breakout. Dont confuse with cockyness.

  97. Kristi March 8, 2012 at 2:40 am #

Hey! Everyone with acne, whether it’s a super major case or just some minor pimples… Dont go to a dermatologist you are wasting money… TRUST ME! You will get diognosed with something even if you didn’t have acne they are forced to reccomend something for you so that they make money. Use nutragena grapefruit daily oil free face wash… It’s really good and it worked for me, you can get it anywhere like walmart, walgreens, drug stores, or wherever. By the way we all came to this site for the same reason… To know how to get rid of our acne but just to let you know everyone gets acne and it’s because of hormones and just changes in our body, so just instead of worrying about it so much like I have, learn to just live your life… You get more acne worrying and stressing about it. I have learned that stress, the food you eat, and changes in your body are what give you so with experimenting and studying I have learned it doesn’t matter anymore and I just want to be me… Now I hardly have any acne at all… So with my biggest suggestion and advice JUST BE YOU! STOP STRESSING, EAT WHAT YOU WANT AND YOULL KNOW IT’S WORKING WHEN YOUR ACNE IS GONE!!!

I don’t have hardly any acne on my face, but i have really bad acne on my chest. It’s really hard to treat too, because every acne solution i’ve used makes me break out more. But the wierdest thing is, the acne seems to clear up the longer i go without a shower.. which is completely unsanitary. I’m thinking it’s a problem with my water or the water temperature.. I’m not sure. Bottom line, i REALLY need to find a good solution to it that isn’t going to make my chest break out MORE.

Hey my name is Mia and I’ve had acne since a out fourth grade. I’m in seventh grade now and I hate it to this day. It sucks, I’ve tried just about everything. Facial cleansers, antibiotics, topical solutions, an acid, and many many other things. It just never seems to go away completely. I hate it so much. I used to have really bad acne, and it has lessened over the years, but I’m so tired of constantly trying to fix it, and gaining no results. Someone, anyone, please help me out. I’d love something I could make at home, because it just seems those work best for me. Of course, I’m open to anything. I just want something that works quickly and efficiently. (: please help me out, thanks. <3

  104. Maria March 16, 2012 at 3:16 am #

I had acne really badly for 2 years whilst growing up, I was put on Roaccutine a strong antibiotic and it went within 6 months. For 3 years I had beautiful clear skin. It has just come back, I went to the doctors and had some blood tests and have been diagnosed with PCOS. Basically meaning I have too much testosterone in my blood and therefore too much androgens which promote sebum production causing my oily and pimple ridden face. I am trying to cure it and have been endlessly researching the science of it all. So ladies, if you have acne around your chin and jawline it could be a sign that your hormones aren’t balanced. In chinese medicine the chin and jawline are representative of the ovaries in women. Here are a few tips to help you; 1) STOP EATING SUGAR. PCOS leads to the release of excess insulin. Ovaries seem to be particularly sensitive to high blood levels of insulin and respond by overproducing male hormones (androgens) like testosterone, which causes ACNE. You will be very surprised about how much sugar is in everything. I’ve begun a strict regime where I do not eat refined sugars of any kind (chocolate, cake, soda, candy etc), refined carbs and gluten (white bread, pasta, white rice etc), and when I eat fruit I eat it with nuts to dodge a surge of insulin production.

Even if you don’t have PCOS or are unaware I think cutting out/down on sugar and testosterone-inducing foods (meat, diary) will significantly help with any acne woes.

SO my diet nowadays consists of a lot of wholegrain pasta, veg and fish. Soya is a great anti-androgen too. So replace your diary with soy products.

hey guys, ive never really had bad acne, but then my mom got diagnosed with lung cancer(14 at the time), and it kinda flared up, then started to go away, then she got diagnosed with brain, spine, esophagus, and lung cancer, and she was pronounced terminal and she doesnt have much time left. im 15 now and its terrible, all over the damn place. looks likr someone could play connect the dots on my forehead. im not looking for sympathy whatsoever, im just wondering if these things are related at all. thanks in advance.

My acne started getting really bad when I was 15-16, so my mother put me on various antibiotics and pills. They worked, but like u said, as sooon as I stopped using them the acne came back, sometimes worse. Currently I am on something called Accutane, an intense antibiotic that is guarunteed to “cure” acne and keep it away forever. I have been on it for a few months now but my skin is still not 100 percent clear. I still have to wear makeup and just a few days ago I broke out again. My self-esteem is low and I feel like shit. Your site really helped and I am going to follow ur six steps . Thank u for giving me renewed hope. The worst part about acne is waking up every morning and looking in the mirror thinking how stunningly beautiful u cud be if only u had clear skin like everyone else. I always felt so alone in my battle against acne, and its nice to know u understand. I still look forward to the day I will have lovely skin, I just hope it comes really soon… Oh and one question, the Agrade product clean and clear that u mentioned, can u buy that in Dischem or Clicks?

  110. K March 23, 2012 at 6:04 pm #

I suffer from random and fairly serious breakouts. Ive had this issue for about 12 years now so i do know what everone in here is going through. Over the years iive found many different methods and the one thing i can say is that generally the first try rarely works. but here are some methods that have worked for me overt the years.
    1. Sun. If your on heavy medication of sensitive limit your exposure but it works.
    2. Benzoyl Peroxide AND Salytical(spelling) Acid. Use combined as a face wash.
    3. ALWAYS use a medicated moisturizer after washing.
    4. Epsom salt. Mix alot of epsom salt with hot water. once fully dissolved use a rag and place on face for 10-15mins. Keep dipping rag in water to ensure you have a decent amount on the rag and using samll circular motions, gently exfoliate .
    5. As a topical treatment use 6% sulfur. This is what is in the proactive refining mask and the only thing that has ever helped me proactive has came out with to date.
6.Last but not least, diet and excersize. weight lifting always made mine worse while cardio usually helps.
Hope this helps everyone but if it doesnt work for you keep trying, something will.

  111. saescha March 24, 2012 at 3:55 am #

HOPE IT WORKS!! I really need it I’m only in the 5th grade this shouldn’t be happening yet to my face!!

  112. Stephen March 24, 2012 at 11:22 pm #

So my face has cleared up. Used to have horrible acne. I don’t use any products on my face anymore. BUT my back has breakouts all the time. Goes all the way from my shoulders down to my mid back. I’ve used nutragena body wash but it’s not working too well. I also use the nutragena body spray for after showers. These two products together have somewhat slowed down breakouts but none have fully done the job right. Does anyone have any products that work for bad back acne?

    hey guys

so my friends have been pressuring me and helping me ask this guy out that i rly liked, and even though he took 15 minutes to think about it, he still rejected me. that’s not important though. the thng is, that was basically a wake up call. I started looking at all the popular girls, some that i have 2 sit with, and i realize the only differences are that they wear their hair down, have good clothes, and wait 4 it…..HAVE NO ACNE. ive been trying stuff, but it hasnt been working, and i really want 2 get rid of it, and i looked in the mirror 2day and saw how bad it had gotten. I’M DESPERATE! i eat healthy, drink water, and wash my hands & face regularly, and eventhough i dont really have a dsire to be popular, it b nice not to get the body check look, and having them sneer at my face. I don’t look great, but I don’t look awful either, but the acne makes it worse. U no how it is. k ive complained way 2 much now. sry, but plz help. 4 now ill just, “shut up and b happy”

Hey I habe some acne on my back and it wont go away! Anyone have some tips?

  119. Fablab March 31, 2012 at 4:41 pm #

I have had a problem with acne for only a couple of months. I have naturally oily skin and I always tried to dry it out. Big mistake… All I got was more acne. I can’t promise you that this will have your acne “dissolve away” but it is an amazing way to clean your skin and remove blackheads, whiteheads, an those tiny, ugly, pimples. It will fade larger zits overtime too! What is this product? Toothpaste and salt. Just pour some salt (about 2 teaspoons) in a small bowl and squirt some toothpaste in. Mix it and apply it to your face. Tadaa!

Hi i’m 14 and i need help with acne(obviosly). Right now I’m seeing a dermatologist and it reallly is helping. But I have a lot of acne scarring( dark spots nothing too serious) as I started getting acne when I was 12. Does anyone know how I can get rid of it? Also I have acne on my back and chest and scars….any ideas? (fast, easy, simple, effective ideas?)

Hi I’m Jenny and I have had acne(pimples) ever since the 3rd grade!

  122. Chloe April 1, 2012 at 6:27 pm #

Hi… I’m Chloe. I’m in 8th grade and I have acne in between my eyes brows, some on my forehead, my cheeks, white heads on my nose and onm my chin. I got my first zit in 6th grade…. In 7th grade I only got them in between my eyebrows and my chin. It looked so bad. By now it’s even worse! It’s getting me kinda depressed because when people talk to me I just feel like they’re staring at my acne and I get really self conscious. I have had a few bfs… Recently broke up with one but I just need to get my self confidence up but it’s hard. All my friends have perfect skin. I mean I think I’d be really pretty if I didn’t have this acne. I wash my face twice a day with this goat milk facial cleanser. I need to stop picking at my zits…. I always tend to. I play a lot of sports: temnis, basketball, volleyball and track. And I’m in pretty good shape . I sing too….if my face was clear it would complete everything. Oh and recently I found some in my back and a few on my arms.. Ughhhh! I’m thinking about trying the baking soda thing…should I? And I’m trying to get my mom to let me get proactive but she said no because it’s bad for you…..my parents always point out my zits and I try to keep all my sadness in…. Because it makes me feel so insecure. If anyone’s has anymore tips, please email me….it would b so helpful… Thanks.

  125. Taylor April 11, 2012 at 3:05 am #

If you have read some of the comments, then you might have noticed that a lot of the people asking for help is about my age, 12. WELL, I have realized that I am not the only 12 year old needing help with some serious acne problems, so if you have acne problems, then you don’t need to feel alone. ALSO, All of the products I used before worked only for a little while and just stopped working. I have used a number of products, including: Noxcema(i think that’s how you spell it), Proactive, a few neutrogena products, and currently Clinque. If you can recommend some products, then please do. I plan to ask my mom about one of the products listed above soon.
    Thanks,
    TFM

hi im amelia and i have really bad-well-really bad to me. im in 6th grade and most of my so called friends act like its my fault that i have acne. some girls there at my school have acne but like 1 or 2 and u cant even notice them. Ive tried so many makeup products from drugstores( i cant afford a freakn $30 for just foundation). wen i go to school i feel ashamed of my acne and also because i cant get the right kind of makeup to cover it and my biggest nightmare would be to go to school with no makeup so ive been trying the clean&clear advantage acne spot treatment, stv. face wash, nutragena face wash, olay 7 in one face wash, clean&clear face wash with the beads in them, hydrogen peroxide, toothe paste( dont even try that stupid thing its worthless!), nutragena 3 in one ( i dont know wat exactly its called but u use it just like the hydrogen peroxide). NOTHING IS WORKING! plz plz help me! i want to know wat kind of makeup to where that will make my face look flawless or even close to that and stuff u can do at home without going to the store to buy things to help get rid of my acne.

plz plz if u know anything let me know :( :(

  128. amelia April 12, 2012 at 11:33 pm #

ok thank you i will try that and also i think i’ve found a good way to get rid of acne.I have been trying this thing out and there has been a good change in the last few days but i think it might take a week or a week and a half but here it is:
    1. Wash your face every morning and at night
2.use a tablespoon of honey and about a teaspoon of cinnamon and mix together, you can put it just on your acne spots or you can just do your whole face, let it sit on your face for like 15-20 min. and then rinse off( i usually just rinse it off with water and dont wash my face and just wash it in the morning)
    3. put a hot towel on your face for 15-20min then make sure to dab your face with a damp cold towel so you dont leave your pores open( do the cold damp towel part after the honey and cinnamon)
    4. when you take a shower wash your face last because of all that shampoo and conditioner that sometimes gets on your face
    5. whenever your washing your face afterwards dab a damp cold towel on your face so yourr pores wont be open to catch any of the bad bacteria
    6. wash your hands alot and try not to touch your face

    hope this helps! :)

    1) Mix 1 teaspoon of honey with 1 teaspoon of papaya paste. Apply the pack for 10 minutes and rinse

    2) Toothpaste always always works. Put a little toothpaste on the spots before you sleep and wash your face in the morning. At the end of the week half of your acne’ll be gone

I’m 17 years old, a guy. I just wanted to put my treatment in here for anyone that needs help, this is VERY hard to do in my opinion, but stop drinking soda, stop eating greasy foods ( I learned quickly that potato chips and other chips easily get grease all over your face, so try to avoid greasy foods. Find a fruit that you like, find a healthy, nonsugary drink to get into the habit of drinking. I went from drinking dr. Pepper all day, to Gatorade, and finally to water over a months time. The results are amazing, and I’m very proud of myself for doing this on my own, and seeing the great results, good luck to your acne problems, and remember no matter how bad it is, that you have a whole life ahead of you, and you can’t let it get to you, enjoy life, especially your teenage years.

  135. Jepha April 17, 2012 at 4:42 am #

    FOR BACK ACNE!
First find a face wash of your preference and get two rags. Now you put one rag in hot water and place it on your chest or back (where your problem is). Since you have opened your pores, you now rub the face wash into the effected area. Leave it for about 10 minutes. Then rinse with warm water so your pores are washed out. And finally, get cold water and rinse off your back or chest. USE the other rag to “pat” your back or chest down. I hope this works for yall’.
Support THE USED and buy our new album “Vulnerable”…. just sayn’. ;)
    GOOD LUCK!
    -JEPHA HOWARD
